2007 - A year like no other ?

So, my readers, 2007 is drawing to a close. And so slowly, it is time to dare to look back. What was going on musically for?

A, I find it very important, if not the most important music event was without question the album "In Rainbows" by Radiohead or how it was marketed. We remember: Radiohead featured her, incidentally, very good, album to download. The inclined downloaders could determine the price, he wanted to pay, himself (I have myself, since I do not have a credit card, unfortunately, have to type "0 €"). The media response was huge ... and now the marketing strategy has indeed already started to find imitators (eg, plans to publish the punk rock band Pennywise her next album in spring 2008 in a similar manner).

2007 was also the year of the great band re-unions. In particular, the Re-Union of Led Zeppelin is very interesting (if there is a tour is still questionable, but if there is one: I'm there when the tickets are not too expensive). Other great reunions were: Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve , Rage Against The Machine , Dinosaur Jr., The Jesus and Mary Chain , My Bloody Valentine ... In blur and Libertines is not yet clear what will happen, but it looks good. Resolutions were
it but unfortunately some. Which I think was the saddest of Blumfeld in the spring, especially since I, unfortunately, for any more cards his farewell tour got. Too bad I found the Blood Brothers , especially since I have also met this band until this year.

What I also noticed this year is something you can call such as "increasing commercialization of Indie". It observed true on several occasions that indie and underground bands were considerably Formerly much radio airplay. The best examples are there of course Peter, Bjorn and John with "Young Folks", the Kaiser Chiefs with "Ruby" and with Razorlight "America". Also exchanged a number of indie bands (sometimes forcibly) to major labels. In addition, increasingly is a death of indie labels observed (A consequence of this is of course the previous point). In addition, as early as 2006, a hell of a lot indie music written in the tabloids, namely, how could it be otherwise, Pete Doherty .

now follows a small, personal Jahrespoll:

Album of the Year: Tocotronic - surrender
more great albums were from Anajo (Hello, who knows whom?), Arcade Fire (Neon Bible ), Au Revoir Simone (The Bird Of Music), Babyshambles (Shotters Nation), Dropkick Murphys (The Meanest of Times) Erdmöbel (No. 1 hits), Ready, Go! (The Heart is a collector), Fiery furnance (Widow City), Gogol Bordello (Super Taranta) The Good, The Bad & The Queen (The Good, The Bad & The Queen), Karaptenhund (# 3), Kate Nash (Made Of Bricks), Kilian (Kill The Kilian), Mad Caddies (Keep It Going), The Skatalites (On the robbers ass), The Slapstickers (Rocket), The View (Hats Off To The Buskers) and the Box "A Song More" by Blumfeld .

Songs of the Year:
Amy Winehouse - Rehab
Danny Saucedo - If only you knew the

Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta
Muff Potter - photo booth
Peter, Bjorn and John - Young Folks (even if published already in 2006 )
Tocotronic - surrender

concerts of the year:
Mad Caddies 31 May in Cologne on 2
Tocotronic October in Cologne

Newcomer of the Year:
Karpatenhund, Kate Nash, Kilian, The View

biggest musical disappointment
album "Black and White Album" by the Hives, e s are indeed some good songs, but by the "mainstream producer number one Timbaland-produced songs are just plain embarrassing and bad

boring concert:
Sick Of It All on the Rhine Cultural Festival in Bonn (have me worked totally arrogant and conceited, the singer screamed the whole time just calls into the audience, as it had pogo to as please; audience suggests and does (of course, that's normal for Hardcore, I like it but not at all). .. in hindsight I would have preferred to the Fantastic Four on the main stage)

personal, musical discoveries (read: "What do I have this Years for me personally discovered "):
- the" Hamburg School "Band Huah
- the Brit-pop bands Suede and Pulp
- various solo singers, especially from the! "non-rock" area ( Kate Nash, Amy Winehouse, MIA, ... )
- Ska old (especially the Specials )

Now the question is still: What will happen to 2008? For example, there are quite a lot of interesting albums announcements (eg, The Kooks, Kettcar, Olli Schulz der Hund Marie, Jack Johnson, The Breeders, Weezer, Oasis, Adam Green, ...)
But who knows? what is going to happen ... Well wait a

happy you all and see you next year, until then I'm concerned no longer intend to write something

Christmas Special

So, dear reader, tomorrow is Christmas Eve. And I will take the opportunity to write even a small Christmas Special. Which means I'm going to recommend music that fits well with the hard (or maybe not, but more on that later ;-))

There are so many Christmas songs which was also extremely hard in front of the radio quite often run .. . what bugs me the most of it is, of course, the nasty "Last Christmas "by Wham!. However, there are more pleasant covers of this song. First, an electro version of the band" Jeans Team "( download here ) and a version of the Britpop band Travis. The amusing version is from the Cologne Indie band Erdmöbel. "And they took the melody of" Last Christmas "and wrote a new German text to the parody of the original (which also funny video can look at her you here ).

The next thing that comes to mind spontaneously in music and Christmas, the album is "We are waiting for the Christ Child" by Die Toten Hosen (published as "The Red Roses"). There, covered the pants mainly the old, classic Christmas songs (You come little children, every year, etc.) with new lyrics ("Little Children come ye, O come ye but all
here to listen) or Voodoo Glow Skulls - "Feliz Navi Dad") or even more covers of classic Christmas songs (such as WIZO - "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"). who also should be mentioned, is the American singer / songwriter Sufjan Stevens (he is probably best known to bring out through his project, for each U.S. state of an album). In 2006 he brought out a box with a total of 40 Christmas songs (some written, some covers). Otherwise, it is

just still many other good bands from different genres and anti-Christmas Christmas songs (eg AC / DC, Sonic Youth or by Weezer) to enumerate them all would only then really break the frame.

it, then I wish you a Merry Christmas and do not forget that Christmas is not just about gifts go ;-)

are PS one years Review it this year too, which is then in a few days

Can I Use Regular Woolite In He Washer

"This Is Radio Clash on Pirate Satellite" - The Clash

Today I write about the English ska band (The) Specials (the "The" there is only one part of the publications, so I've simply bracketed the times).

The Specials played, as I said, Ska. And for me they are even the ska band in general. they founded in 1977, during the period, as in England, the punk had high culture, from punk, they are also affected slightly (but significantly less than ten years later emerging Ska-Punk). They also toured before the release of a debut album with the legendary and now here already several times mentioned herein punk band The Clash
. After this tour then they got a lot of inquiries from record labels, but instead of a join of these, founded by the keyboardist of the band, Jerry Dammers, the label "2 Tone", but more on that later. The ideas brought in its original line-out only two albums ("Specials" from 1979 and "More Specials" in 1980). 1981 left most of the band members and the rest named in "Specials AKA" around. In the 90s, after several years of separation, the band was called back for "The Specials", made but by far not so good music. In 1999, she parted up for good.
The Specials were the first band of the so-called "2-Tone Wave" of ska. The name of the "wave" came, as you can imagine already, by the above-mentioned label. Almost all the bands of this wave (the best known are likely to be Madness) were on the record deal, which, however, did not see a record label, but as a "parody of a record label.
The specials were, which the black and white checkerboard pattern that is found today in various band logos and also as typical of Ska is one introduced by their publications so adorned. The pattern is the relationship and the unity of people of different colors show (hence the name 2 Tone: two (color) tones), a very commendable and beautiful metaphor.

The texts of the ideas were quite varied. On the one hand, there were humorous and fun feel-good lyrics (eg "Too Much Too Young", "You've done too much a great feeling my vinyl version of the first album to put on my turntable and listen to me. When I hear their music, bad mood is direct as gone.
covert also one of my other favorite bands, namely, Tocotronic, a song by the Specials, namely the anti-racism song "Racist Friend".

The first two albums, "Specials" and "More Specials", are recommended without compromising anyone who likes ska heard. The later albums, especially from the 90s, are not as good. Especially recommended
Songs: A Message to You Rudy, Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think), Gangsters, Little Bitch (my favorite song by them), Nite Club, Rat Race, Rude Boys Outa Jail, Too Much Too Young

Reinstatement Letter For College Sample

"Tell all off!" - Tocotronic concert yesterday in Cologne

Hi
today I blog about the New York band Yeah Yeah Yeahs "
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs formed in 2000 when singer Karen O. (Actually Karen Orzolek) and guitarist Nick Zinner previously played together in a band, the acoustic love songs played. With the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, they wanted to do exactly the opposite of the first volume. Only days before the first appearance, she then found a drummer (Brian Chase). 2001 and 2002, then came the first singles and EPs, 2003's first, incidentally, very very good album "Fever
To Tell "and in 2006 finally the album" Show Your Bones ".
They play a very danceable and wild type of indie rock with punk influence. Because of the origin of the band (the New York art scene) is their music as art Punk called I the Yeah Yeah Yeahs guess mainly due to their experimentation, but also for their danceable Recommended songs (yes, they are now finally getting enough sleep)..
Art Star, Date With The Night, Honey Bear, Way Out, Pin (the first song that I knew of them), Machine, Y Control

Are Kidney Stones Really That Painful

"Because we are the Sondaschule!"

so ... I believe that now is the first time that I have two days in a row here write something in. ...
is today's thought of a band that actually runs quite often on the radio, namely the British band The Kooks
The Kooks formed in 2004 for the purpose of an appearance at a university event (they played "Reptilia" by Strokes ), but they had already played together more often. End of 2005 they recorded their first album Inside In / Inside Out "on, which then Appeared in early 2006. In England, she had several Top Ten hits in Germany and above all, as I find it very good song, "She Moves In Her Own Way" popular. She is currently working on a second album, which is in February published in 2008.

The Kooks music is Indie-Pop/-Rock, which is played mainly with acoustic guitars. However, flow and other genres into their music, such as Brit-pop, reggae, soul and blues. I like the Kooks, because she beautiful, carefree acting Write songs that you can practically listen to any occasion, be it in the summer with friends in the park or even in the winter at home alone.

and again it has gone for over a week since my last post. Therefore it is now written back something, too, about the band Muff Potter Muff Potter is a punk rock / indie rock band Cathedral. Dinosaur King How To Play Dinosaur King Card

"Drink, Smoke, Drink, Smoke, That Is What We Do Drink, Smoke, Drink, Smoke, Playing It For You!" Or the Mad Caddies

Hello
today I read something about, in my opinion, brilliant musician Pete Doherty. I limit myself to the music and will write anything on the various drug escapades.

Pete Doherty was born in 1979 in Hexham, England. Because his father worked in the military, he grew up in various places in Europe. With 16 or 17 (where I had found conflicting sources), he won a poetry competition and began to write. Later He studied English literature for a short time in London, the study but broke off early. A short time later he met the guitarist Carl Bar
know at him and founded his first band The Libertines.
The Libertines played indie rock with strong punk influences (most likely influence here in this blog already mentioned The Clash be). After several demo recordings they got a record deal in 2001 and 2002 brought her debut album "Up The Bracket 'out. This album, like the following album, produced by Clash guitarist Mick Jones. Despite various arguments in the band then released in 2004 the second album "The Libertines". He fell in 2004 the band more and Doherty founded his second band, Babyshambles. Not much later
Carl
Bar at the Libertines declared dissolved.
similar to the music of Babyshambles much of the Libertines, is a little bit calmer. Appeared in 2005 that, again produced by Mick Jones, album "Down in Albion". Performances of the band often had to be canceled because Doherty did not show up. 2006 then released the EP "The Blinding" In 2007 their second album "Shotters Nation."
Overall, one can say that makes Pete Doherty with his bands with good music. The texts written by him are often kept very poetic. my opinion would be Doherty is an ideal candidate for the "27-to-die a-Rockstartod" was (although he is now 28) because he would fit in great with 27 other deceased musicians: Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, etc.. All these musicians were 1 Guitarist, 2nd Singer, 3 musical genius and fell 4th through their drug and its wild life.
Many demo recordings of Doherty's bands and some solo recordings can be free from the Internet (see link below).

recommendations are not there already, as I once again can not be confined to individual cases and will.

Earring Holder Toronto

"There are cool and uncool and how you feel! " or Why Tocotronic are just so fascinating?

Good evening everybody, it's almost 23 clock and I have nothing to do ... so I thought "now you're blogging again what" Today I write about a band that I have discovered only a short time for me. And while the band "Huah!"

Huah! were, as well as the already mentioned here
Tocotronic
and
the stars, part of the "Hamburger Schule", in contrast to these two but they were never even remotely successful, and broke up already 1992, ie before it was really wrong with this scene in Hamburg. They were founded in the mid 80s and went about the same time in Hamburg. There, in 1987, they released their first single on the indie label Buback. 1990 then followed the first album, "What do Huah! Now?" on L'age d'or (the label which is subsequently even as the Hamburg school label as such), and two years later the album "Fuck Capitalism" and soon after the band split up then. According to the band, the case for separating the "usual musical and personal differences" were. Musically Huah! very hard to classify. They play something between Punk, indie rock, soul and jazz.
The band is also due to it's ever been establishing the great Tocotronic, as their singer Dirk von Lowtzow at all only because of the music of Huah! his law studies in Freiburg broke off to move to Hamburg and there to make music. Ironically Tocotronic were again the reason why the singer Huah Knarf Rellöm! (The real name I will not tell. Tip: Read the name again, backwards ;-)) 2000 again moved to Hamburg. Tocotronic Coverter way the Huah! Song "The 10-clock show," so I generally only on Huah! attention was. The admittedly somewhat strange name the band is from a comic book.
The title of the article is the title of a song on the album "Fuck Capitalism".
Since 2005, the band comes back on occasion, an album is probably not planned

recommendations there (again) because I can not be limited to individual songs / will.

Tv Tuner 713x Hybrid Software Drivers

NOFX, Bad Religion and Co.

Hello readers
Today's thought of a band that has influenced my life as a music consumer as much as almost any other. This is the English punk band The Clash.

It was about 7 years (ie, as was so 13/14), when I began more interested in punk rock (music was my first taste of really mixed very strongly and still strongly influenced by the mainstream (from the time I still really embarrassing CDs but they are well hidden in the closet ;-))). This began with the dead pants so it happened that I wanted from my uncle for a birthday or a Christmas CD of those same. What I did not know was that my uncle in recent days even this music very much heard. So he gave me next to your pants or a burned CD version of the Clash album "London Calling" (he also lent me another 2 records: one of the Sex Pistols and a Slime, but which I was not as interested, especially because I did not own a record player). At first I
London Calling was more interested in less, because it was so old (so we think at that age feel free to surf ...). After some time I heard it out and I was immediately smitten. The Clash are they so "guilty" that my musical development in terms of punk rock was not the "mainstream punk rock" stuck and I began to hear other old punk bands (a good example here are the Ramones). It is like the end of the album London Calling attribute that I even began listening to old and they often also.
The Clash played at first pure, influenced by the Sex Pistols, Punk Rock, which was in time but always challenging and experimental. Appeared in 1978 with "(White Man) in Hammersmith Palais" is a song as a single, which strongly reminded not been to the original punk rock, but was strongly influenced by reggae and ska. Also later in the direction of dub and folk music experiments (especially the English and Latin American). The Clash were one of the first punk bands that were also perceived by the mainstream (in the UK and the U.S., they even had several top ten hits), which the band themselves, and particularly the singer Joe Strummer not just good . Were called The increasing success also led to the fact that the band more and more divided and in 1986 then after the deeply disappointing album "Cut The Crap" dissolved. worked After the dissolution of the band members then on various projects (only the "important" members): singer / guitarist Joe Stummer: a solo album in the 80s, many soundtracks and small film roles, sometimes lead singer of Irish folk-punk band The Pogues, and from 1999 until his death in 2002 the great band Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros
guitarist Mick Jones: many lesser-known bands, currently producer (including The Libertines and Babyshambles)
bassist Paul Simonon: devoted himself entirely to The Clash of painting until 2006 include the Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn, the band "The Good, The Bad And The Queen" founded

To say more would be that many bands (not only from the punk rock area) The Clash as major role models and see themselves as big fans come out (such as Die Toten Hosen, The Libertines, Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, REM or U2).

Schizophrenia And Overians

Anajo

Hello music lovers
today I write something about the "Singer / Songwriter" Olli Schulz Olli Schulz and his band and the dog Marie.

Olli Schulz makes beautiful songs with acoustic guitar with really very very funny lyrics.
He started as a roadie for various musicians, and this time he also began writing songs. Of these songs then heard the singer of the band Kettcar and took on his label Grand Hotel van Cleef "under contract. There, he brought in 2003 with his friend Max Schroeder (aka The dog Marie, hence the name), the album "Break my heart you break I'll up 'out. This was followed by 2005's Beige Album "(yes, that is really true). The next and most recent album "Waiting for the Boomerang" came out in 2006 (but not on Grand Hotel Van Cleef but on a sub-label of EMI), the band has existed since that time two other members.

Live Olli Schulz occurs both alone, as also with his band. Unfortunately, I have this pleasure (yet!) had not. He currently own column in the Berlin radio station "Radio Fritz" called "A Schulz, a song has, for which he writes a song every week. This column can also be downloaded as a podcast (see link below).
It also occurs occasionally as "Bibi McBenson" on. Bibi McBenson quoted differs greatly, he acts arrogant and conceited. Songs by Bibi McBenson appeared as B-sides on singles Olli Schulz (according to interviews Olli Schulz is Bibi McBenson forced by threatening him with violence). In addition, Bibi McBenson also has its own MySpace page, where there are other songs (also see link below).

You notice Olli Schulz in various texts and interviews that he has a very large music general knowledge. He also parodied Bela B. 's single "1.2.3 ..." as a B-side just this single.

Bionicle Avan Building Instructions

first post

Hi

Yesterday I went to a concert and that at German Ska-punk band Sondaschule.

The 8-member Sondaschule founded in 1999 in Mülheim an der Ruhr. Since then, came out an EP and two albums (the third, as the band announced yesterday, in preparation).
Musically they are clearly the ska-punk assigned, but there are also German punk influences, and small excursions in the direction of "normal" Ska.

The concert was great. As with the genre usual it went off pretty much and the audience was so sure text, as I have never experienced before. The band came in Carnival costumes on stage (probably the reason lies in the venue, the Underground in Cologne) and placed directly go to one of the fastest songs. The support bands (Spookey a japaische all-girl punk rock band, and STAATSPUNKROTT, a German punk rock band) were not bad, but not all soooo good. Ergo: It pays to always go ska (punk) concerts, especially if they are as good as yesterday's the Sondaschule

Whats The Best Carpet Sweeper

Dear Friends of Music
today it is spinning in my blog to the Hamburg-based band "The Star" is the band, as well
Tocotronic
part of the so-called "Hamburger Schule" but what pretty much every band in that scene, they do not sound like the other bands. Their music can already describe as some sort of rock, it flows as well as many other genres with one, are particularly evident radio-effects (other styles are also hip-hop, soul and electro).
The lyrics are often quite confusing and a sense is often not directly visible (for example, the chorus of "Big in Berlin:" We are many and we're together Pop song, "this goal they have achieved in my opinion, but a long time.
are The band has been around since 1988, but then the cast was quite different and the band was still in Bad Salzuflen have at home. For this phase of the band I have not heard a single song that will get their hands on these songs are extremely difficult ...
is the "today's" stars there since 1992, since then there were 8 albums, a live album and a lot of singles and EPs, including a number of remixes of the . song "Themenläden"
recommendations, I somehow can not be so really, but I advise you just see a listen to albums all times

Can I Buy Stuff With My United Miles

my goodness, is already so much time has passed since my last post ... well, now there's finally back ne new recommendation:

Today my text revolves around the Mad Caddies, in my opinion one of the best ska-punk bands there was. The Mad Caddies ") then aware of the band and took them to his label Fat Wreck Chords under contract. Ever since then they brought out four more studio albums, one live album and two EPs.
Their music is a mixture of the typical American Melodic Hardcore (again see "
NOFX, Bad Religion and Co.
") fees, and ska, but also many other styles into their music such as reggae, Dixieland jazz, shanties, Polka or rockabilly. I met the band on the Rhine Cultural Festival 2006. Before, I only knew the names and had read that they are ne good live band. But with what came, I had not expected: The stage was dark It was quiet and reggae. The whole audience looked forward to the stage. Suddenly, a sign flashed the words "Party!" on and a siren went off. Then the band stormed the stage and played. From then on, was no stopping to hold more, the audience went with me from the middle of it, as I had never been before. I could not jump as mitpogen and. Ergo: the best concert I've ever been on. After this experience it was for me no question that I got me a card when they came early this year to Germany. So I went and it was even better than last time! You could literally wring out my Sun, I was sweating ;-) The first band "Pepper" came about also great. What we learn from it

No Cd Age Of Empires Ii Install Expansion Pack

Dear Readers (I know her since only a small circle but no matter)
Today I will occupy myself with the nice band Tocotronic times. Especially since yesterday are part of me that much again, partly melancholy, partly angry texts fit great with my current emotional state (not ask ...).
In time, they were then more experimental (especially on the albums" kooks "and" Tocotronic ") and the lyrics were always" cryptic "(Excerpt from" Free Hospital ": "[...] The things to make me a model all because they can identify and genre boundaries, and the like are obviously a shit (for example, there are numerous excursions into electronic music). Also I like the attitude of the band (for example, they are actively against the extreme right and the VIVA Award "Comet" in the category "Young, German and on the way up," she refused on the ground "We are not proud of it to be young. We are not proud to be German. And on the way up, well ... "from).
short Tocotronic are a wicked band, which is well worth it to hear recommendations
there is no time, since really ALL albums are great.

Shreggetvaluew Shlwapi.dll 8007007f

so now after half ever time a new item:

Today I deal sometimes with the Punk Rock, as it bands like NOFX, Pennywise, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, etc. is played, ie the so-called "melodic hardcore" or simply "Melody Core".

to early mid-80's began a few hardcore bands (mainly consisting of California), to play something more melodic, so was the style. Are characteristic of fast and short songs, often with multiple vocals and "breaks" in the songs, because changes often occur between hard / fast and quiet parts. The music is often as simple and plain structures. Many of the bands on the two labels "Epitaph" and "Fat Wreck Chords' contract, which were both founded by musicians from the genre, from Epitaph Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, Fat Wreck of NOFX-Sänger/Bassisten Fat Mike (born Michael Burkett The lyrics are often political (against the current U.S. administration under George W. Bush), but also humorous (a good example here are NOFX: first, political texts, on the other hand, even downright stupid lyrics).
is remarkable that almost all the bands from the USA and since most are from California, European bands I actually only two known (Millencolin and No Fun At All, both from Sweden). Also, many are very popular, also known to the mainstream (pop) punk bands from the Melody-core scene, including The Offspring, Blink 182 or Sum 41

my opinion recommended bands: NOFX
(currently one of my favorite bands), Bad Religion, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Millencolin, No Use For A Name Links:

Cleaning Stove With Miracle Eraser

Hello

Today I dedicate myself to the band Anajo Augsburg.

Anajo make German indie-pop with lyrics that are often about topics such as love (which is common in German indie-pop is the case ;-)).
guitarist / vocalist Oliver and bassist / keyboardist Michael knew each other from school, when they formed the band in 1999, Drummer Ingolf they found on an ad. In 2005 it appeared the first album "Close to Me" in early 2007 came the follow-up "Hello, who knows whom?".
PS: if you the lyrics occur from songs like "Jamie Foxx Show" and "Amsterdam-man" comic: yes, singer Olli is gay (which in the indie sector is so rare ... I remember because a not a single other indie musicians ...)

Locked Knee Jammed Trauma

so here is my first real

Post:

the slapstick is a 9-piece ska combo from the Cologne / Bonn (where I come from, too). you have established in 1995 and 1998 brought their first album "Ska Invasion" out. This was followed up to now 3 more Studio albums, an EP and a live album, which I would especially like you recommend. Stylistically I think they are most likely to compare with The Toasters in New York. For the toaster, they have also played as an opening act, just as for other Skagrößen like Madness and the Skatalites. website (with some samples)
