2010 Flu Shot Causing Nausea
Tomte Kettcar, or the new Hamburg School
more than 2 months, no new post ... why?
can I do not really say it is probably a mixture of lack of time, lack of drive and similar Influences.
But today I am writing after a long absence at last have something.
topic today, the two bands and Tomte Kettcar which I will summarize mainly because of the friendship between the two bands in a post.
Let's start with Tomte to:
Tomte is founded in 1988 as "Warpigs," the band members were still at school. Beginning of the 90 notified you are in "Tomte Tummetott" to the name is the title of the book's title is a children's book author Astrid Lindgren of Sweden. In the name and after some changes, the band recorded first demos, which remained unpublished. From 1994 there was then the Tummetott simplicity's sake.
At that time, and also on the first EP titled "Blink muffle" of 1996 was the sound of the band is still relatively punk, but the first indie-pop ambitions were heard.
In 1998, then the first album, which was delivered today Kettcar singer Marcus Wiebusch (since we have the first connection of the bands) produced. Soon after shock and Max Schroeder (now also known as "The Hound Marie" is known, together with Olli Schulz I greatly admired band Olli Schulz der Hund Marie ) joined the band.
1999, the Tomte-singer Thees Uhlmann Tocotronic as a roadie on tour, the different impressions of this tour were by him first on the Internet and later in book form under the title "We could be friends," published.
founded in 2000 For the second album the band the label "Hotel van Cleef" which was later extended with little Kettcar for "Grand Hotel van Cleef".
won since Tomte zunehmde a success story, which culminated with a fourth place in the German album charts for the latest album "letter of the city" in 2006.
This year will likely still appear a new album.
also plays the band this year at 5.7. the "outside and for free" festival culture Rhine in Bonn where I will of course be present.
We now come to Kettcar:
Kettcar was formed in 2001 from members of the punk bands "... But Alive" and "Rantanplan" where the sound of the respective bands was probably too punky. In the first year was an EP released on their own, for the first album in 2002 they founded then as already mentioned it then the "Grand Hotel van Cleef". In 2005 he published the second album, the third will follow in a few weeks (and will most likely be located on the first day in my possession ;-)).
Kettcar play a concert in Cologne this week, probably because I will also be present.
The sound of the Bands:
Both bands play punk-influenced by, the German Indie-Pop/-Rock. Because of it, and of course because of the origin of the bands they are considered the major bands for the seen by many "revival" of the Hamburg School (remember: indie scene in Hamburg in the 90's here so often mentioned, see Blumfeld , Huah! , The stars , Tocotronic ) considered. Especially Tomte are strongly influenced by these bands.
mp3s:
Tomte - Me But My Mother
Kettcar - I thank the Academy
Kettcar - More
Kettcar considered - mainly faith

How To Make An Account For Tech Deck Live
"And anyway ... I like Blumfeld"
With this quote from the song "It Rock music is simply "by Tocotronic I am now my posts about the great band Blumfeld.
Blumfeld were so, together with the already mentioned Tocotronic zich talk with the stars, to the most important bands of the so-called "Hamburger Schule".
Blumfeld founded in 1990 from the remnants resolution of two punk bands ("The Bee Hunter" and "black channel", which itself is dissolved because the singer disappeared after a bank robbery and so far gone ... was browsing through Indiepedia * g *). They named themselves after a short story by Franz Kafka ("Blumfeld - an old bachelor"), which can be guessed already, where it goes: ambitious, sophisticated lyrics.
The band brought in a relatively short time, two albums out (1992: "I-Machine" and 1994: "L'Etat et moi"), both of which were decisive for the German Indiependent music of the 90s. In general was even just for the album "L'Etat et moi" the name of the "Hamburg School" by a journalist of the TAZ "designed". The first two albums were still very rocky and heavily influenced by punk, the lyrics were more than confusing ... we often wonder what was there singing please.
The style was broken then, after a gap of five years, 1999 with the album "Old Nobody" ... Blumfeld had become, in time, a pop band. Instead of raw guitars and keyboards, there were now more than pop melodies and the lyrics were indeed still very, very good, though understandable. The band was suddenly known outside the indie scene. In this context, then released three more albums (2001: "Testament of Fear", something more rock, 2003: "Out of every", again very poppy, and finally 2006: "Forbidden Fruits").
Today, exactly a year ago then gave Thistle Jochen Meyer, the lead singer of the band, the band's website then known, that Blumfeld dissolve after a final tour. When I read this message, I was somehow disappointed ... But what can you do except wait for a reunion ... But at least, Jochen thistle Meyer, who has not written almost all Blumfeld songs and make according to an interview with the magazine "Intro", music continues.
What remains is the memory of one of the best German bands of the last 20 years. The plates one can still hear after all.
What would be mentioned:
Blumfeld sat down, as well Tocotronic (again ...), actively against the racism and particularly against the so-called "German-rate" on the radio.

What Is A Lump On My Gum
"So Give Me Coffee And TV, Easily" - blur
Hello dear readers,
first time a happy new year
First, in this year I will write about a band that I hear quite a while, these are the English band Blur.
blur're together with Oasis, the Brit-pop band in general. However, they were based, unlike those in 1989, so quite a bit before the big Brit-pop wave of the early to mid 90's. They are also very varied: the first albums are from the so-called "Madchester" scene influenced (Madchester: Scene in and around the northern English city of Manchester late 80s, bear a mix of indie rock and electronic dance music), the then the following albums are classic Brit-Pop, the latest albums then fit into any style of music anymore.
released their first album in 1991, followed by another 6 more albums, usually at intervals of one to two years. During the recordings of the last album "Think Tank "(2003) fell out the band and guitarist Graham Coxon left the band. The band was then long-term contract as no longer existent. However, the members have now again in August 2007 and went into the studio together again (even if it an album produced remains to be seen).
with the band Oasis is a real gang war, but which is now almost exclusively performed by Oasis. The most glaring was that the guitarist of Oasis, Noel Gallagher and Blur said "The guitar is very ok, but the bass player and singer will die of AIDS ".
What worth mentioning is that the singer of the band, Damon Albarn, seemingly no time without music can spend. He released several solo albums and soundtrack contributions, is the man behind the "cartoon band" Gorillaz and plays since the end of 2006, together with members of The Verve, The Clash in the band The Good, The Bad And The Queen.
recommendations:
For starters, the best best-of album, but you still bought all the albums the band has earned ;-)
